Step by step instructions to do Tanjavur painting.
- Take a wooden cardboard of desired size. Paste a clean white cotton cloth tightly over it. Allow it to dry.
- Prepare a paste (powder with water) and apply it over the cloth. See that no lumps are formed. Allow it to dry for a day.
- Trace the picture on the cloth using blue or yellow colour tracing sheet.
- Make the embossment for frills, curtains, sarees, crowns with the thin line of paste( chalk powder, glue and water in 2:1:1). Allow it to dry.
- Fix all the stones in their respective places.
- Use the gold foil to cover the embossed area.
- Remove the gold foil from covered stone area gently with a sharp pin.
- Then apply paint over the small areas and the areas around the gems.
